![]() He said he’s been giving rides between 8 a.m. Goulart leaves from the Vineyard Haven Steam Ship Authority terminal, and estimates that he and other striking drivers have given trips to more than 50 people so far. His longest trips have been to the island’s west coast, to the town of Aquinnah, he said. Goulart said he’s personally taken 32 people in his car, driving riders a total of 262 miles for free. I’m doing it for the public that’s being shut out of the buses voluntarily.” He started giving out rides on Saturday, the second day of the strike.Īccording to Goulart, when a rider asked how much the ride would cost, he said, “It’s nothing. Roland Goulart, a driver who has been with the VTA for 20 years, said he’s been giving rides to visitors and residents alike. The strikers are also attempting to alleviate the service issues caused by the strike by using their own vehicles to transport some riders from the strikers’ base at the Vineyard Haven Steam Ship Authority terminal to wherever they need to go on the island. Other businesses are giving free rides to anyone who would normally rely on the buses. Townes said some island residents are supporting the strike by donating food to the bus drivers. "It’s just so contrary to the island community, of how the community sticks together," Townes said. Townes expressed disappointment at the VTA's choice to bring in new workers to drive during the strike. The company has brought non-unionized temporary drivers to the island, and plans to provide 100% of its full, normal service along all bus routes on July Fourth. I assume they have to pay them salaries, which will far exceed anything that we’re asking for," he said.Īs of Monday, the VTA said 85% of the bus routes in the system were in service. "They just hired 15 or 20 out of state people, that I’m sure they had to pay their transportation up, they had to pay their housing, they have to pay their food. Townes said of this assertion from the VTA that he has "no idea where they get those numbers." The release also states the strikers’ demands are not financially feasible and would cause “a devastating service cut of 50 - 60% of our existing services.” “The ATU, a powerful off-island union which has shown little regard for our community and the riders of our transit system, has engaged in a misinformation campaign,” the release states. However, the Authority issued a press release on Monday that slammed the Amalgamated Transit Union, which represents the striking bus drivers as part of ATU Local 1548, and attempted to debunk rumors circulating on social media. A hundred percent.”Īdministrators at the VTA did not respond to multiple requests for comment. "There has not been one person I have met that is not behind us. … That’s the kind of community this is," said Townes, who is a year-round island resident and Martha’s Vineyard native. ![]() I’m getting calls and texts until one, two in the morning. ![]() Townes said the strikers are seeing mass support from year-round residents of the resort island. Sixteen of the 21 full-time drivers are striking, according to Townes, who has worked at the VTA for 24 years. The strikers also want an affordable family insurance plan, pay raises, and holiday pay. They want an agreed-upon system of seniority, which would allow the most-tenured bus drivers to pick the shifts they want. Richard Townes, the leader of the Vineyard Transit Authority bus driver strike, said the strikers have a handful of key demands. Bus drivers on Martha's Vineyard entered their fifth day of striking Tuesday, just two days before the island will flood with visitors for the July Fourth holiday.

![]() The sidekick slide when 1st came out looked up to expections on being a good cell phone, but later discovers show that the sidekick slide is un capable to do certain things as of video recording, the only thing that makes it nice is the emailing, full keyboard, text messaging, instant messanger and some applications. So i decided if the phone i bought to do the tasks it was advertised to do wouldn't work then I needed to use my sidekick slide and give it to my little brother because he said even though it acts the way it does he wanted to sow it off to his friends. Took out my sidekick slide switched the sim card and used that for a month got no problems and I went to them again and they said that it's just the 08 versions that are having the problems. Every time I brought it to t-mobile all they could say was all sidekicksare having technical difficulties. the phone was never dropped on the ground or in water. ![]() I spent so much money on this phone to do what it was advertised for to only find out that it's better to use it as a toy for a child. The sidekick 08 is a great phone on the outside but it's like they say, "Never judge a book by it's cover." The phone will work great one day then the next day you'll lose all your contacts, ring tones, basically everything you bought and or put in the phone. True Never judge sidekick 08's by its cover Overall this a a great phone, even if it is from 2007, I wish I still had it, Id definatly refer to others. You can load multiple email accouts which I LOVED! Email, texting, caladar and notes are all the same as every other sidekick very simple and easy to use. MP3 player has always worked great and very easy to upload music. The keyboard has never casued me any issues. The camara takes greats pics, no lag, theres a awsome flash! The ringtones and music play loudly so you can hear, but I wish they had a speaker part on the back too becasue if I lay my phone face down you cant hear the ringer too well. Out of all the sidekicks this was one of my favorites! It dosent have video, youtube, touchscreen.but who cares it was 2007! It has a large bright screen, loud ringtones, great pics with flash, a reliable keyboard, MP3 player, email, texting, caladar, notes. I don't know if it was a defective phone or a bad service, but do to the poor customer service I guess I will never find out.īottom line, I LOVE the Sidekick LX (2007)! I admittedly gave them the phone back and asked for a proof of return receipt. Instead of granting my request they essentially accused me of damaging the phone because the signal issues I've been having couldn't be their problem. I'm in the Tmobile Store where I got the phone from and I am in the process of exchanging the phone during my trial run, but I guess they weren't used to customers making request. I thought maybe it's the phone because it doesn't have an antenna and that could be the problem for the poor reception. After a couple of weeks I decided to take the phone back in to see if I could exchange it for another device. I realized I needed a phone service that actually allowed me to make and receive calls. I finally wised up and got overthe look of the phone. I tried using the phone in different areas, but I would always lose signal a couple seconds into a phone call. They all admitted to having weak signal strength, but just like me they like the flipping technology of the device. I noticed other people with the same phone and I asked them if they had encountered this problem. I spent most of my time on the 2nd floor of my dorm building in the corner in front of a big open window trying to get a signal. I barely received a signal walking around on campus, but it was virtually non existent in my dorm room. The service was great until I left the store. I will admit at the time I was just fascinated by the flipping mechanics of the phone, but I did the 30 day test before officially locking into a 2 year contract to see if the service was up to par. I choose the Tmobile sidekick as my phone of choice. I got my first cellular contract with Tmobile when I went away to college. Recently, Sam Black made a comparison to the current Urza decks reminding him of 《Birthing Pod》 decks of the past, and I’m inclined to agree. This version really starts to take on a midrange gameplan in game 1. ![]() In the first Modern Challenge where he was legal we see UBERMIKEYB made the top 8 with a Bant Company deck featuring Oko. Like I mentioned earlier, it basically took no time for Oko to make an appearance in Modern. It will likely involve wanting to deal with something like 《Champion of the Parish》 or another creature with +1/+1 counters, as turning those into an Elk is a lot less effective. So just make sure when you’re thinking about trading your Food token for something that you keep that in mind. In a world where most people are likely planning on getting rid of your Planeswalkers via combat damage, 6 more loyalty is just an absurd amount to give up. The big reason it’s a miss in my book though is that instead of using his you could just use his on the permanent you’d like to take or the one you were planning on donating, and have 6 more loyalty on your Oko. ![]() For starters, your opponent will know you have this option available to you if Oko’s already in play and they have some high impact creature in hand you could take, so they will probably just not play it. I actually think this ability is kind of miss, while I’m sure there are some high value creatures that might be worth trading something for, the play patterns don’t usually end up with Oko playing that way. One last note about Oko before I dive into some decklists is regarding his last ability. ![]() Pakistan continued a managed floating exchange rate system until July 21, 1998. Generate unlimited free Sudoku puzzles with varying degrees of difficulty Sudoku is a great activity to sharpen the mind. The thing is that this pattern does not happen in any of the latin squares because that would force the third element of the square to be in the same row or column as itself, which is a violation of the definition of the latin square. The main differences are that letters take the place of numbers and there are fewer. The key part is in order to form a rectangular fence, I need to swap two columns somewhere (either in a single 3x3, or in the over grid): ? A B These puzzles have exactly the same rules as a traditional 9x9 Sudoku. Though, while I am confident that these do not have rectangular fences, and the generation method precludes them, I am not sure that such is the case. This next one (another one grid generation) is one that is probably closest to the other solutions that have been provided and allows a clear picture of the patterns that are formed in this type of generation. The rules of X Sudoku (Diagonal Sudoku) The solving process of diagonal Sudoku is to fill numbers from 1-9 in 9x9 grids. If you have the process only use one latin square, the grid looks like: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 The fact that its a latin square on the over board too, then makes the swaps such that I believe that the rectangular fence cannot form. if you note, the 7, 8, and 9 are always in the same set of three, as are the 1, 2, 3 and the 4, 5, 6. There are some properties of these puzzles. I'm taking the shortcut of not doing the replacement in my code. ($final, $final) = ($final, $final) Īnd running it a few times I get: 7 9 8 2 1 3 5 6 4 I am a programmer though, and so I whipped up a quick bit of code:ģ * $outer-> + $board + 1 Unfortunately, I don't have the math background to be able to prove that that such is the case. Here's where I'm guessing, and I haven't done the full analysis of the resulting board. Each value is then read as trinary when converting to base 10, and then some specific swaps are done. Of these 12, you select 9 with replacement that are placed on a 3x3 board and then a 10th is the 'over board'. You take the 12 order three latin squares (using values of 0, 1, and 2). ![]() There's a method described in Sudoku: Bagging a Difficulty Metric & Building Up Puzzles for generating a solved Sudoku board. ![]() Numbers in each column, each row and each group (3×3 grids in rough-line boxes) cannot be repetitive. Students look towards current and “smart” devices to understand the ways in which different sensors can provide more effective input and output than the traditional keyboard, mouse, and monitor. ![]() In this unit, students develop their programming skills in App Lab while exploring the role of hardware platforms in computing. The second half of the unit consists of an iterative team project, during which students have the opportunity to identify a need that they care about, prototype solutions both on paper and in App Lab, and test their solutions with real users to get feedback and drive further iteration In this unit, students are asked to consider and understand the needs of others while developing a solution to a problem through a series of design challenges. At the conclusion of the unit, students learn about the impacts of data analysis on the world around them and complete a final project in which they must uncover and present a data investigation they've completed independently. They learn how different types of visualizations can be used to better understand the patterns contained in datasets and how to use visualizations when investigating hypotheses. Once again, students work with datasets in App Lab, but are now asked to make use of a data visualizer tool that assists students in finding data patterns. Students explore and visualize datasets from a wide variety of topics as they hunt for patterns and try to learn more about the world around them from the data. The unit concludes with students designing their own small library of functions that can be used by a classmate. In the second half of the unit, students learn how to design libraries of functions that can be packaged up and shared with others. In the beginning of the unit, students are introduced to the concepts of parameters and return, which allow for students to design functions that implement an algorithm. Students learn how to design clean and reusable code that can be shared with a single classmate or the entire world. At the conclusion of the unit, students complete a week-long project in which they must design an app around a goal of their choosing that uses one of these data sets. Later in the unit, students are introduced to tools that allow them to import tables of real-world data to help further power the types of apps they can make. Like the previous unit, students learn the core concepts of lists, loops, and traversals through a series of EIPM lesson sequences. Students learn to build apps that use and process lists of information. ![]() The entire unit concludes with a three-day open-ended project in which students must build an app that makes a recommendation about any topic they wish. Each programming topic is covered in a specific sequence of lessons that ask students to ‘Explore’ ideas through hands-on activities, ‘Investigate’ these ideas through guided code reading, ‘Practice’ with sample problems, and apply their understanding as they ‘Make’ a one-day scoped project. Students expand the types of apps they can create as they learn how to store information (variables), make decisions (conditionals), and better organize code (functions). The unit concludes with students sharing the apps they develop with their classmates. Along the way, students learn practices like debugging, pair programming, and collecting and responding to feedback, which they will be able to use throughout the course as they build ever more complex projects. Throughout the unit, they learn how to use ’s programming environment, App Lab, to design user interfaces and write simple event-driven programs. Students work with partners to develop a simple app that teaches classmates about a topic of personal interest. ![]() Students design their first app while learning both fundamental programming concepts and collaborative software development processes. |
